Lifestyle features for Woodards’ property and community publication.
I wrote a series of venue profiles that balanced clear, concise storytelling with sensory detail. Working alongside a photographer, I shaped pieces that captured each venue’s mood, personality and point of difference — helping position Melbourne’s dining scene as an extension of the lifestyle Woodards’ properties offer.
The features covered a range of notable venues, including Nico’s Sandwich Deli, Waxflower Bar, Hobsons Bay Hotel, Hazel, Dessous and Rustica. Each profile maintained a consistent editorial tone while highlighting what made the space worth visiting.
These pieces contributed to a publication that felt more considered and community-focused, supporting Woodards’ brand positioning by reinforcing the character and culture of the neighbourhoods they serve.
The bright blue façade, traditional typeface and straightforward signage riff on an aesthetic of authenticity, backed by flavour combinations that deliver. From tomato and mozzarella with sesame and nori to Cuban smoked pork and Grandmother ham with cheese and pickles, these sandwiches pack an Italo-Japanese punch that satisfies any craving.
For a quick fix, the Caramilk cookie sandwich with Kenny Lover’s soy-sauce ice cream is the ultimate sugar rush and a fresh take on the salted-caramel profile. Open 7am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, this compact venue fits the fast pace of the business district—and with Seven Seeds coffee on the menu, a productive day is a surefire bet.
Offering the kind of laneway experience that defines Melbourne, Nico’s is a standout addition and the ultimate weekday treat.
